World Blood Donor Day
Today, the 14th of June, marks a day where many around the world will gather to celebrate the World Blood Donor Day in several ways. We here at Daily Need Industries LTD, are also celebrating this day in our own little way. We hope that after reading this article, you shall be more aware of this selfless act that saves lives and be spurred on to embark on this journey someday soon.
According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Blood donation is a safe and simple procedure that involves volunteers giving one of the following blood products; whole blood, red blood cells, plasma, or platelets. Let’s find out who can give blood. A good number of people can give blood if they’re in good health. There are also other basic guidelines to determine one’s eligibility which includes;
- Being in the age range of 18-65.
- Weighing at least 50 kg.
- Being in a total state of good health at the time of donation (no cold, sore throat or any form of infection).
- Not advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
More accurately, a physician in the hospital you intend on donating blood to will also run some tests to ascertain your eligibility.
This event was created with the sole aim of showing gratitude to blood donors and also creating awareness with hopes that more individuals will rise up to the occasion. Make donations to ensure every person/community has a safe supply of blood and blood products readily available and affordable for every need. Blood is of utmost importance to our existence. We all have something to give to make our world a better place, take great care of your body and consider being a donor. You shall be saving lives literally! A huge thank you to all donors out there and we hope that someday you’d become a donor too. Happy World Blood Donor Day.
