“Nsala”  (white soup) recipe

You thought of this and we’re here to deliver! Get your aprons and utensils ready, your kitchen have no idea what goodness is coming its way!

List of ingredients;

Goat meat, yam, fresh (cat fish), dried, stock fish and crayfish. “Uziza” leaves and seed (optional), “utazi” leaves, “ogiri”, yellow pepper, salt and suppy seasoning stock cubes. “Pomo”, “shaki” and prawn (optional).

For any difficulties in identifying any of the mentioned ingredients, kindly ask the nearest easterner for help.

Directions;

Peel yam and cut into tiny pieces into a bowl, wash goat meat thoroughly with salt. Wash fish with warm water and shred the stock and dried fish into tiny pieces into another bowl. Wash uziza and utazi leaves before slicing into a bowl. Blend the crayfish, uziza seeds and the yellow pepper.

Cook goat meat in a pot and season with 2 stock cubes of suppy seasoning (varies according to soup quantity). Add salt, yam and some water then allow to cook for about 15 minutes. Mash/pound cooked yam with a processor. Add in fresh cat fish to the cooking goat meat and blended pepper. After it has cooked for a while, take out fresh fish to keep it whole. Add in stock, dried and crayfish followed by the mashed/pounded yam and ogiri. Stir the mixture to dissolve the yam and ogiri and cover to allow the yam thicken the soup. Add in the remaining ingredients, stir and taste to make any necessary additions. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes then turn off heat completely.

Easy-peasy huh! Dish out and serve hot with any combination of your choice, preferably; pounded yam or white rice! Enjoy your meal and help a friend also by sharing this recipe!!!
