Just Sauce, No Ketchup!
Just Sauce no Ketchup.
The above phrase just gives you the feels, right? Well, this post is on dishing out easy tips to create a yummy sauce, 100% homemade. Yes, we love our ketchup…but what beats a well prepared home meal? Nothing! Get your cookbooks out and add in some secret tricks in making the best sauce.
Here are a few tips to help you achieve this;
- Use fresh ingredients – the base of your sauce matters a lot, ensure that all ingredients are bought fresh.
- Make your own stock – keeping all things fresh is always best, coconut milk made at home has a nuttier taste than canned coconut milk, same as chicken stock and more. Always try to prepare your stock from scratch.
- Take it easy – in cases where you can’t take the extra time to make stock from scratch, add natural ingredients like celery, garlic, ginger and suppy seasoning of course.
- Use thickeners – use thickeners to add more viscosity to your sauce.
- Use appropriate pans – the pans you prepare your stock matters a lot. A deep pan gives your sauce enough room to simmer and dance well.
- Taste properly – avoid eating sweet things before or during preparation as this can compromise your taste buds and causes your tongue to pick out contrary tastes from what is in the actual pot.
- Match your sauce to your meal – have an idea of what you want to make, then match it to your meal. For instance, egg sauce is best with yam. It won’t be ideal to start with egg sauce only to boil rice later. This obviously won’t go well.
