Nelson Mandela International Day.
“It is easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build”-Nelson Mandela. This day, the 18th of July is known as Mandela Day. The United Nations in November 2009, dedicated this day to honour the former South African President; Nelson Mandela. For his selfless contribution to the culture of peace and freedom for all.
One major purpose of this day is to instill and inspire everyone. Like the above quote says: heroes are those who make peace and build. Every one of us is capable to make a difference in our community. We all can be heroes, every human being has the ability to maintain peace and build something. We can change our world for the better. This day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change. Someone wrote; “true change starts from the heart”. Our desire is to spur you on, to be crazy enough to believe, you can change the world, yes, it is possible. In our country, we’ve seen the power of our united voices in a different way these past few weeks, we should be encouraged and keep the good work on. Justice and Peace is a basic human right and we all are deserving.
Today, let us all go out and make peace, build and flourish. Empty your trash in a bin, say good morning to that cleaner you pass each morning with a smile, take a second look at that homeless kid. Remember, you are enough and equipped to create change. The best time to start is now, with one neighbor, colleague, domestic staff at a time. Be the change you desire, this world is all ours. May the spirit of the great Nelson Mandela inspire and draw us into a world of service! Happy Mandela Day!
