The theme for this year’s International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking is “health for justice, justice for health”. You may wonder; “why international days”? These days are set by various recognized world organizations as occasions to educate the general public on issues of concern, with hopes to mobilize political and social will to generate appropriate resources. In order to address global problems and to celebrate the achievements thus far in those areas.
Drug abuse as we all know is no strange occurrence in our society, everyone knows one or two persons who are somewhat guilty of this peril. This doesn’t just affect our immediate environment but our future generations, economy and progress in general. The theme for this year’s event shows that justice and health has to work hand in hand. To effectively combat this menace, the UN is encouraging everyone; individuals, non-profit, private sector and state/federal government to get involved.
