3 Handy tips and tricks at home
With the emergence of technology and innovation, life is good! It is only wise, to take this bananas life has given us and make some smoothies with them. Today, we have 3 life-saver tips and tricks every home should have in their pockets.
Bread is a staple in many homes and it can be used is so many different ways;
- Aids in chopping onions without tearing up: cutting your onions with tears welling up in your eyes is uncomfortable and distracting. To do this effectively, use a food processor or simply put a loaf of bread in your mouth. This action stops the sulphur gas (which causes the tears) from getting to your eyes because the bread in your mouth dissipates it.
- Neutralizes burnt smell in food: To the “party-jollof” lovers, we have good news! You don’t have to wait for that wedding to satisfy your taste buds. Delight them right in your kitchen by allowing your rice to burn slightly. Turn off the heat and place a slice of bread on the rice, cover and allow it rest for 5 minutes. The bread absorbs the smell and gives your food a mild, rich, smokey aroma and taste. This isn’t restricted to rice only, you can do this for anytime your meal gets burnt while cooking.
The magic pot called pressure cooker/pot.
- Cook meals faster: be it beans, cow leg, stubborn “pomo”, the pressure pot is your answer. It cooks food like beans, rice, yams and potatoes within 1/3 of the time it would take to cook on a normal pot. If you don’t have this magic tool yet, do yourself some good and get one. It saves time, energy and gas!
